I’m spending today doing last minute things like making sure I have enough coffee, tea and a healthy dose of nerves for tomorrow. I’ve made excellent progress this past week on the outline for this endeavour and I’m hoping that this will help me finally complete a NaNoWriMo.
I’ve tried this awesome event twice before, but I kept getting discouraged. I think the problem was that I went into it cold. No idea for a story, no direction – nothing. That’s bad. I gave up quickly, unable to sustain a story.
This time, however, thanks in huge part to a fantastic site for writers of all kinds called Ficly, the people there and the encouragement of my wonderful boyfriend, I am going into NaNoWriMo this year with a full story I have visualized in my head from start to finish (minus pesky things like details
) and I’m armed with notes and an outline for about 20 chapters already. All I have to do now is actually, you know, write
And for those of you who’ve been in on the whole CherryPop thing for a while now I have to warn you: The new CherryPop does not resemble the original very much. I think I drifted away from that because I couldn’t find a place to take the story and it stagnated. But I will be using elements from that first learning experience with her and her merry band of Zombies and Witches and Necromancers (oh my!) and hopefully turning out a wild ride of an adventure as CherryPop, Liam and assorted friends and foes along the way figure out how to defeat the Mayor of a ‘raised from the rubble’ city called Dreadtown. (I think. I’m still working out the name of the town, hehe).
It’s going to be a Steampunk/Apocalypt-y setting for this story instead of being set in modern times for two reasons: 1. When I discovered the joys of Steampunk, I couldn’t get it out of my head and 2. It’s just awesome.
So, with that all said, wish me luck. My NaNoWriMo profile page is here, and I will actually be posting the chapters here. I’ll be tweeting from CherryPop’s world and the twitter accounts can be found in the sidebar over there –> and if you should want to, you can fan CherryPop McGee on Facebook too
Okay, back to it! See you tomorrow

I am totally sure you will astound them
Cannot wait to see what you come up with. You are awesome *kiss*
Hey, glad to hear you’re still banging away on the keboayrd. Got to keep at it! On the topic of NaNoWriMo, it has always fascinated me but with my little girl keeping me very busy I doubt I could hit the target in one month. Like you, SW, I tend to write a bit, think for a while then write a bit more. Can’t rush these things! P.S. I’ve recently submitted four short stories to magazines! This is my first time so I won’t be too bummed when the rejection slips come in. I’m just glad I finally did it! Good luck with your writing SW, and let us know when your first draft is done! Thomas.
